Fascinating January 1932 issue of Yakyukai magazine featuring Hall of Famer Lefty Grove on the cover along with a Japanese player. The interior features considerable coverage of the US Tour of Japan including multiple photos of the American players including an interesting one of Lou Gehrig retouched considerably around the eyes to make him appear more Asian. The remainder of the publication appears to be related to Japanese baseball with multiple articles photos and illustrations (including several amusing cartoons). The 1931 Tour was led by Grove and Gehrig along with Mickey Cochrane Frankie Frisch Al Simmons Rabbit Maranville and Highpockets Kelly along with seven other ballplayers NL umpire "Beans" Reardon and New York sportswriter Fred Lieb. The magazine itself is in good condition overall with general age-related wear particularly around the edges and spine. While it appears to contain all its pages several toward the back have pulled away from the binding. Despite the wear the publication displays very well and would make for an outstanding framed piece documenting an exciting time for the expansion of baseball throughout the world.
