Oversized (approximately 16" x 10") cabinet-style action photo of a small-town or school baseball game. A small crowd lines the field as the batting team with a man on first tries to bring him around. The single umpire stands behind the pitcher calling balls and strikes as well as safe/out calls on the bases. The oversized cardboard mount has been worn at the corners and edges but is in exceptional condition otherwise with no staining and very little surface wear. The reverse has some wear and the name "J. A. Bowdoin" written in pencil in the upper-left corner. The photographer"s decal is mounted directly in the center of the reverse advertising "W. A. Judge Photographer" of Waterville Maine and is in perfect condition. The photo itself is clear though the subjects are very small due to the distance from which the photo was taken. However it is extremely detailed with several cars parked along the outfield and what looks to be a plume of smoke from a steam engine off in the distance. An excellent representation of baseball in small-town turn of the Century America.
