Spectacular 1905 season pass to see the New York Giants at the Polo Grounds. Managed by Hall of Fame manager John McGraw the team achieved a record of 105-48 behind an incredible pitching staff featuring just six pitchers who covered the entire season - Hall of Famers Christy Mathewson (31-9 1.28) Joe McGinnity (21-15 2.87) along with Red Ames (22-8 2.74) Dummy Taylor (16-9 2.66) Hooks Wiltse (15-6 2.47) and Claude Elliott (0-1 4.03 in just 10 games). Offensively the team was led by future Hall of Fame catcher Roger Bresnahan along with "Turkey" Mike Donlin (who hit .356 for the season) but pitching was the real story. The owner of this pass John B Hempstead may have seen Christy Mathewson pitch the third of his three World Series shutouts a 2-0 pitcher's duel against Chief Bender in Game 5 (his other two were thrown in Philadelphia). They may also have seen one of the most famous non-at bats in the history of the game: Moonlight Graham's June 29 appearance as a defensive replacement in an 11-1 victory against Brooklyn. Regardless of how many games he attended John Hempstead kept his pass in excellent condition as it has been graded EX-MT 6 by PSA 110 years later an outstanding piece with just mild toning and a very strong image. The only example reviewed by PSA to date.
