Hand-colored etched resin reproduction of W.P. Snyder's "A Collegiate Game Of Base-Ball" which appeared in the August 31 1889 issue of Harper's. Etched into 1/4" thick resin this beautiful piece (measuring approximately 8" x 10") may well have been made from the original print block or it could have been manufactured years later. Unfortunately we cannot determine for certain and nor could our consignor despite significant research. We have seen this piece described in other auctions as a period piece however we cannot be certain of this and thus cannot offer it as such. Still it is a wonderful depiction of a well-known baseball woodcut lovingly hand-colored to make a magnificent display.
