Philadelphia pitcher George McQuillan was a 20-game winner with the 1908 Phillies but health issues plagued the hard-living ballplayer. His SABR biography calls him the "Doc Gooden of the Deadball Era " a description that characterizes not only his stellar rookie season but the personal troubles that remained with the player throughout his career. His E103 card presents a dignified portrait however this example graded VG 40 by SGC.
