Riley Hern was one of the greatest goaltenders of his generation and understood to be the very first professional goaltender to win the Stanley Cup. He played professionally from 1901-11, skating for the Pittsburgh Keystones of the WPHL (the first professional hockey league), the Portage Lakes of the IPHL, and the Montreal Wanderers of the ECAHA where he won four Stanley Cups in consecutive seasons from 1906-08 and again in 1910. A Hockey Hall of Famer, he was inducted in 1963. This 1910 Sweet Caporal Hockey Postcard of Hern, #32 in the set, exhibits rounding at the corners with extra paper from the obverse visible at top of the card. Otherwise, the card presents beautifully with both surfaces remaining clean and attractive. Graded GOOD+ 2.5 by PSA it remains one of only 13 graded examples across both PSA and SGC's population reports combined.

Please note: our printed catalog displays "RC" in the title indicating rookie card status. This is in-fact considered a second year card for Hern, consistent with his C55 issue.
