This card ranks similar to our other Count Mullane offering in this same auction, with modest image depth, corner wear that's strongest at lower left, and narrow left and right edges that speak to somewhat unpredictable N172 border cutting. It reverse shows marks from handling, enough to be a factor in the technical grade, while taking nothing away from its dynamic front image. A close look above its nameplate shows the handwritten "Toney Mullane" and "Cincinnati."
#331-5 shows Mullane poised to throw a ball and its SGC VG-EX 4 grade reflects the factors mentioned above, with perhaps a generous take on that lower left corner. The combined PSA/SGC population reports show one or two others that would rate better, while still having fewer than 10 total graded examples, making him a tough (but not impossible) man to pin down.
