Outstanding, one-of-a-kind original artwork used to create the front cover of the August 1953 issue of Inside Baseball magazine, with Mickey Mantle on the cover. Featuring original photography affixed to heavy board, the primary image captures Mickey Mantle in his second major league season, smiling in his road grays, holding his bat over his shoulder. Two smaller images of Mantle have been taped to his right. The entire piece measures 11" x 15", with registration marks and crop marks drawn in and some additional color information handwritten across the bottom. A single piece of black tape remains affixed to the bottom edge of the cardboard. Areas of foxing are visible along the left edge, more notably at the bottom.

The image is clearly lacking typography, which was applied later in the production process, perhaps in the form of a transparency that was to be laid over the top of the image. Regardless, a very unusual collectible of Mantle, accompanied by a complete copy of the issue featured on the cover.
