While much information concerning the September 8, 1930 Boston Post Old-Timers' Game has been lost to history, the panoramic photo from the event has periodically been seen in the hobby. A gorgeous 9" x 24" product of the Boylston Photo Studio in Boston, the photo captures 55 subjects associated with the contest; all but four of the players who participated are represented in the photo, with only Hugh Bedient, Larry Doyle, Ralph Glaze, and Honus Wagner absent. It is our assumption that the participants received copies of this photo, and we believe that the majority of the surviving examples originated with the players themselves. Framed to final dimensions of 15" x 30" with a single white mat, the photo appears to be in remarkable condition, free from age-related toning or staining. While the frame prevents us from seeing the photo's edges, corners, or reverse, any wear that might be present in those areas does not extend to the photo itself. Displaying as a Deadball Era "Who's Who" featuring 55 of the game's early greats, the photo depicts several players who went on to coach college baseball and are sporting their college uniforms as opposed to their pro outfits. As the Boston Post explained - many of those players no longer fit in their major league digs! A remarkable document from a game of considerable significance featuring 16 Hall of Famers, many of whose cards and photos routinely fill the catalogs of this auction company.
