Rare program from the first game ever played at Yankee Stadium on April 18 1923. Considered to be the most important and significant program in existence this program helped christen the House that Ruth Built the mighty slugger helping out with a three-run home run off Howard Ehmke of the Red Sox. Featuring bold images of team executives Jacob Ruppert and Cap Huston who purchased the Yankees in 1915 the 9 1/4" x 11" program has seen better days with significant tears and paper loss along with tape repair to the cover. Inside pages are becoming detached from its staples. However given the immense historical significance of the piece and its significant rarity (only a dozen or two examples are known to exist in any condition) this remains a tremendous artifact - the program christening the team that would become the most valuable franchise in all of sports. An excellent candidate for professional restoration due to its historical importance however the program remains display worthy in its own right as one of the few known examples.
