Exceptional Kansas City Monarchs advertising poster advertising the team as champions of the first "Colored World's Series." The Series between the Monarchs and the Hilldale Daisies opened in Philadelphia in October of 1924. The Monarchs who would win the Series 5-4 featured future Hall of Famers Jose Mendez and Bullet Rogan while the Daisies featured future Hall of Famers Pop Lloyd Judy Johnson Biz Mackey and Luis Santop. The 11 x 17" poster recently from the Richard Merkin Collection features a stadium image taken from the series along with a team photo of the Monarchs and was likely used as an advertising broadside to promote upcoming games and events. In apparent excellent condition with a fold down the center along with corner and edge wear consistent with its age and a very slight discoloration at the lower right perhaps from water.
