Historic original photograph captured on Opening Day, 1918 during the ceremonial first pitch at League Park. Starting pitcher for the Cleveland Indians, Stan Coveleski stands on the right, while fellow future Hall of Famer, outfielder Tris Speaker watches from the left side. Cleveland mayor, Harry Davis is pictured at center tossing the first pitch. This approx. 6" x 8.5" photo is known to have been removed from a photo album owned by Covaleski himself and his nickname, "Covey" appears written in pencil on verso. Verso also displays wear consistent with that of removal from an album, including both paper loss and paper remnants still affixed. Surface of photo has a small triangle-shaped piece missing above Speaker's head, with an associated small tear below. Includes full LOA from PSA/DNA confirming Type 1 status.
