The 1950 New York Giants were a team on the precipice of something great - finishing 3rd in the National League the team led by the powerful bats of catcher Wes Westrum third baseman Hank Thompson and outfielder Bobby Thomson the team would undergo a transformative season in 1951. By promoting slugger Monte Irvin to the starting lineup and adding what many feel was the greatest player to ever play the game in Willie Mays the Giants would rise to the top of the National League ultimately sweeping the great Cleveland Indians team to win the 1954 World Series. The image of the card itself marred only by a heavy crease that traverses the center of the image presents well at arm"s length. General wear throughout in addition to the aforementioned crease accounts for the grade. Despite the accuracy of the grade this is a difficult card from a very difficult set of one of baseball"s most beloved teams. Indeed grading company population data would imply that this and not the Cardinals and Red Sox cards (as conventional wisdom holds) is the most difficult in the set.Population DataPSA Population: 22 total graded 1 at this level 21 higherSGC Population: 3 total graded 0 at this level 3 higher
