A Centerfielder for eleven major league seasons, Wally Berger had a potent bat in the first half of his career before injuries took hold.  He looks quite happy on his 1939 Play Ball, with the card grading Authentic with scrapbook residue lingering on the back.  He's signed in a dark, black ink, his somewhat compact signature laid down with a sure hand and graded PSA/DNA MINT 9. Some spots of paper loss grace the reverse, the result of scrapbook removal. The card originates from the Shibe Park collection of autographed cards, an original owner collection carefully collected by a teenage boy who, in 1939 and 1940, obtained many autographs from players arriving at the train station near Shibe Park, and continued for many years to obtain signatures in person and through the mail.
