Handsome original cabinet photograph depicting Cleveland Naps catcher, Jay Justin "Nig" Clarke. Clarke was born in 1882 and made his major league debut with the Cleveland Naps in 1905. He is perhaps most remembered as the man who caught Hall of Fame pitcher Addie Joss' perfect game thrown on October 2, 1908. This photo hails directly from Clarke's estate where it has remained for over a century. Interestingly, mount photo has been affixed to indicates this cabinet was produced by a photographer in Macon, GA where the Cleveland Naps trained during the spring of both 1907 and 1908. Mount measures approx. 6" x 9" while photo itself measures approx 3.5" x 5". Verso remains blank aside from a faint ghosted image and moderate soiling.
