Attractive and clean Type 3 example of the well-known pose of Christy Mathewson, the original likely taken during spring training in 1903.  This photo became well-known among prewar card collectors, for its use on Mathewson's T206 "Dark Cap" card, as well as his E98 card.  Clearly trimmed from a larger photograph, the image is extremely strong and clear, trimmed to approximately 3 1/4" x 7 1/2".  The reverse includes Brown Brothers stamps as well as editorial markings, and one small decal.  A well-known photo, authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA.
