Handwritten letter from Hall of Famer "Wahoo" Sam Crawford, dated July 14, 1954.  The letter is addressed to "Fred," reminiscing a bit about some players from Crawford's era that Fred clearly was hoping to track down.  Crawford pledges to forward Fred's request to Win Clark, the former ballplayer who did his most important work with the Association of Professional Baseball Players of America, where he worked with destitute former players, helping them obtain financial assistance.  The letter is well-worn, with tape marks around the edges.  The edges also exhibit some significant tearing and paper loss, the long-ago mailing folds heavy enough to cause some tearing and separation of the paper in places.  Crawford's signature, however, is clean and unblemished, written like the rest of the letter in graphite pencil.  Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
