1958 letter of appreciation from Bob Howsam, then of the Denver Bears of the American Association, to Bill Skiff.  Howsam was instrumental in the establishment of the American Football League, and also worked to establish the Continental Baseball League, a league which never actually played, but which helped force the expansion of baseball in 1961-62.  Howsam built the Denver Bears into one of the greatest minor league franchises, and after attempting to bring a major league team to Denver, founded the Denver Broncos.  Howsam then spent two years as GM of the St. Louis Cardinals before becoming GM of the Cincinnati Reds, where he was instrumental in building the incredible Big Red Machine teams of the 1970s.  After he retired, he served in a capacity to help him realize his dream of bringing major league baseball to Denver by serving on the Colorado Baseball Commission, the group the successfully brought the expansion Colorado Rockies to Denver.

The letter is in fine condition on Denver Bears letterhead, with a handwritten notation in the lower-right.  Some toning is evident, Howsam signing his first name in black ink in the closing.  Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
