A tough combination, 1953 Topps and the signature of Johnny Lindell, best known as a Yankees outfielder for most of the 1940's. He secured three World Series ring with the Bombers but actually came up as a pitcher before he was converted to flychaser midseason. He ended up with a .303 lifetime batting average across 854 games but he eventually lost the ability to hit and in 1950 was dealt to the Cardinals who released him two months later. He then re-converted back to pitching and after a couple of seasons in the PCL, he found his way into the 1953 Pirates rotation, which is where Topps had him. He was a Phillie by the end of the season and done in 1954.
This is the sole signed 1953 Topps card of Lindell in the PSA/DNA pop report, although we are aware of a different one they once graded but has since been cracked, with the flip returned. The card has a crease and some minor edge and corner wear. The signature is in blue ballpoint and nicely laid down, PSA/DNA AUTHENTIC. Lindell died in 1985, just as the autograph circuit was about to heat up, so there were not many chances to have him sign a specific card.
