One of the most beautifully-designed of all the Topps baseball sets, the 1953 issue followed up the landmark 1952 issue with a smaller (274 cards) set, each card a painting of a player photograph.  The set features scarce high numbers and single prints, along with a host of stars and Hall of Famers.  Presented here is the result of a diligent collector's pursuit of an autographed set, a remarkable collecting achievement given the fact that collectors frowned on autographed cards throughout most of the hobby's early history, the rationale being that the autograph hurt the condition of the card.  As a result of this, signed vintage cards are particularly scarce.

In terms of condition, the majority of these cards are in the FAIR-GOOD range, with some better and some lesser.  A complete listing of the cards included in this collection is as follows: #4 (2), #5, #7, #8 (2), #9, #10 (2), #11, #12, #13, #14, #17, #18, #19, #23, #24, #28, #30, #32 (2), #33, #34, #35, #36, #39, #40, #42, #43, #45, #48, #51, #52, #55, #56, #57, #58, #58, #60 Boyer, #63, #64, #65, #67 Sievers, #69, #71 Bartirome, #73, #74, #85, #87 Lopat (poor), #89, #95, #96, #97, #98, #102, #103, #105 Nuxhall, #106, #109, #112, #115, #116, #119 Sain, #120, #122, #123, #124, #130 (2), #133, #135 Rosen, #137 (2), #139 (2), #141 Reynolds, #143, #145, #147 Warren Spahn, #149 DiMaggio, #153, #154, #156, #157, #158, #159, #163, #164, #165, #166, #167, #170, #171, @172, #173, #174 Loes, #178, #179 (2), #181 (2), #182 (2), #183, #184, #185, #186, #187, #188 Carey, #192, #193, #197, #200, #201, #204, #205, #207 Whitey Ford (poor), #209, #210, #211, #212, #214 (2), #215 (2), #216, #221, #223, #224, #225, #227, #229, #231, #238, #240, #242, #246 Face, #247, #248 (2), #249, #254 Roe (2), #260, #262, #264 Woodling, #269 (2), #277, #280 Bolling.  An outstanding collection of signed 1953 Topps cards, including Hall of Famers, high numbers, stars, and a number of duplicates for trade bait.  151 cards total.
