Handsome studio photograph of Boston Beaneaters hall of fame outfielder, Billy Hamilton. This 4" x 5" photo is consistent with an 1897 series of Elmer Chickering cabinet photos featuring players sporting the same Boston uniforms and background with copyright information attributed to Frank Selee & Frederick O. Woodruff. Interestingly, Frank Selee happened to be Boston's manager at the time, while Mr. Woodruff was a Boston-area real estate mogul. Photo exhibits rounded corners and a slightly uneven trim across the bottom. Paper residue appears across surface of verso, a clear indication this photo had once been removed from an existing mount. Overall, a fabulous look at this Boston great who played the vast majority of his career during the 19th century.
