Unique 1911-12 original mounted photograph from Charles Conlon depicting St. Louis Browns hurler, Barney Pelty. Known as the "Yiddish Curver," Pelty boasted a phenomenal curveball and was one of only a handful of Jewish players active during the Deadball Era. Deadball Era photo collectors hold mounted Conlon photos in high regard as these were either gifted to the players by Conlon himself or offered for sale to them directly. This is an uncommon angle for Conlon to shoot from as the majority of his images from Hilltop Park were captured looking towards the outfield and not in towards the dugout and grandstand as seen here. Photo and mount remain in admirable condition with only some light rounding present to corners of the mount. Charles Conlon's personal stamp appears on verso, which is otherwise blank. One of several pieces in our 10th Anniversary Auction emanating directly from the estate of Barney Pelty where they have remained until the time of this sale. Overall dimensions of 5.75" x 6.75". Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
