Stoic New York Giants manager, John McGraw poses for photographers in this original press photo from Burke & Atwell. McGraw is pictured at the Polo Grounds in the distinctive uniform worn by his club during the 1912 campaign. Suffering a World Series defeat to the Philadelphia Athletics in the 1911 Fall Classic, the Giants would then face off against the Boston Red Sox in the 1912 World Series, a classic battle they ultimately lost over the course of eight games. McGraw's Giants would return for their third-straight World Series in 1913, ultimately falling to the Athletics in five games. The presented photo exhibits scattered wear throughout it's surface which is only evident if tilted towards a light source. Light wear to the corners is present with negligible toning on verso. Verso also includes a short caption along with Burke and Atwell stamping. Measures 5" x 7". Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
