Rare window advertising sign that originates from a find of Goudey-related items discovered in the 1970s. Intended to be a window advertisement promoting the redemption of "valuable premiums " the signs included adhesive strips at the top and bottom edge of the sign designed so that store owners could affix the signs to store windows facing out. The result of this design was that the signs were often destroyed upon removal as the adhesive would cause the signs to tear. Though the signs have traditionally been considered to date to 1933 it was with the 1934 set that Goudey began advertising "premiums" on their card wrappers and thus we believe it is likely that the signs were issued in advance of the 1934 set production. Professionally matted to a finished size of 17" x 24" the piece does exhibit some minor edge tearing and flaws related to the adhesive along with several folds from mailing or storage. A very pleasing item related to the key sets of the gum card era seldom seen except in the most advanced collections.
