Spectacular regional advertising piece promoting Brucks Beer and the 1939 Cincinnati Reds. Brucks beer was brewed by the Bruckmann Co a company dating back to the mid-1800s that survived during Prohibition by brewing an "aristocrat cereal beverage" as well as other non-alcoholic drinks as the Bruckmann Beverage & Products Company. Since the company was an active business when Prohibition was repealed they became the first Cincinnati brewery to ship beer on April 7 1933. Their status as an active business during Prohibition also enabled them to utilize the tagline "Over 83 years continuous brewing" despite the fact that the company produced only "near beer" during thirteen of the 83 years. The 1939 Reds of course finished first in the National League ultimately being swept by the Yankees in the World Series. Managed by Bill McKechnie the team was led by powerhouse catcher Ernie Lombardi (HOF) and first baseman Frank McCormick along with standout pitchers Paul Derringer and Bucky Walters. All five are featured on this stunning 25" x 19" poster which includes 17 black and white player portraits and colroful red and yellow graphics and accents. The piece has been carefully mounted on a red background with clear photo corners enabling us to view the very minor wear exchibited on what appears to be an EX-MT piece save for some minor blemishes and some light chipping in some areas along the edges. A stunning display.
