Gorgeous large-format advertising poster promoting baseball's "greatest sstars" at Griffith Stadium circa 1959. Note that the Senators themselves did not provide any of those stars finishing dead last in the American League 31 games behind the division-leading White Sox. Harmon Killebrew Jim Lemon and Bob Allison provided home run power but the team was simply outmatched in every category which often leads teams to adopt interesting marketing strategies to get fans to the park - like marketing the stars of the opposing team. Printed on light cardboard this neon green advertising poster measures 13 3/4" x 22" and amidst the Senators' home schedule for the season features headshots of Mickey Mantle Ted Williams Rocky Colavito Gus Triandos Nellie Fox Al Kaline and Bob Cerv along with Washington's Roy Sievers (who drove in 49 runs with a .242 average that season). The poster displays well despite a 3" tear at the top near Williams' image a tear at the hole punch and smaller tears at the left and right edge. The bright green background masks the wear creating a very strong display.
