Postally-used in November of 1906 interesting postcard depicting the Chicago Cubs labeled "Champions 1907." Not the first example of this scarce postcard we have seen with a 1906 postmark we can only assume the enterprising postcard company was making an assumption based on the team's stellar 116-36 record in 1906 after being upset by the crosstown White Sox in the World Series that the club would win the NL championship again the following season. And the company would not be incorrect as the Cubs led by a stellar pitching staff would win the 1907 World Series. The postcard is graded POOR 10 by SGC due to the aforementioned postmark and writing (an equally prophetic "We'll hear from them again next summer ") but the overall eye appeal is far stronger. The team image which includes eventual Hall of Famers Frank Chance Joe Tinker Johnny Evers and Three-Finger Brown is clean with the exception of some postal markings and the card exhibits very little discoloring mostly isolated to a small area along the top edge.
