On our recent consignment trip down South we met with a consignor who had two 1915 Ty Cobb advertising scorecards attractively framed and displayed in his office. Stopping to admire each of the pieces we were struck by the star power on the piece - in addition to Cobb's image at the right edge a strip of inset photos along the top edge include the likes of Eddie Plank Home Run Baker Connie Mack Chief Bender Eddie Collins and other members of the 1914 Athletics. The reverse includes images of the World Champion "Miracle Braves " including Rabbit Maranville and Johnny Evers. We had never seen the piece up close before and were impressed by the detail and all the information contained in such a small space. Sadly though we could not persuade the consignor to give up either of his scorecards. Lo and behold we drove to our very next appointment and what should the consignor present us with? An identical 1915 Cobb advertising scorecard equally strong in visual appeal to run in our Spring auction. What coincidence! This piece measures approximately 14" x 5 1/2" and is clearn if slightly off-center from left to right. Unscored and unblemished a clean piece containing the images of multiple Hall of Famers from the closing years of the Deadball Era.
I have one to sell!
