Beautiful Underwood & Underwood Type I photo taken during the 1915 World Series featuring Red Sox catcher Bill Carrigan awaiting an incoming throw as Phillies catcher Ed Burns crosses the plate. The simple notation on the reverse that Burns was crossing the plate enables us to date the photo to Game 3 of the Series in Boston with Burns scoring in the top of the 3rd inning on a Dave Bancroft single to center. Boston would go on to score two runs to win the game 2-1 (they would eventually win the Series in five). The home plate umpire pictured is Silk O'Loughlin. Encapsulated as a Type I photo by PSA/DNA.
