The 1969 Topps set from the Texas Find is an interesting anomaly. It contains a good number of cards that appear nearly perfect certainly in the NM-MT range. At the same time it also contains cards that exhibit rough corners - sometimes a group of cards in a row that each exhibit similar traits like a ding to the same corner. It was only after mentioning it to the family that we learned that in 1969 there was a baby in the household; it's entirely possible that some stacks of cards were mishandled while waiting to be affixed to their photo album. The result is a very strong set from the standpoint of aesthetics but less so in the way of technical grade due to the larger number of cards exhibiting defects like corner wear. Still we selected 17 cards at random (including keys) for submission to PSA. Results were as follows: #35 Joe Morgan (PSA EX-MT 6) #50 Roberto Clemente (PSA EX-MT 6) #95 Johnny Bench (PSA EX 5) #151 Clay Dalrymple (PSA EX 5) #242 Frank Kostro (PSA NM 7) #255 Steve Carlton (PSA NM 7) #260 Reggie Jackson (PSA GOOD 2) #268 Al Spangler (PSA NM-MT 8) #319 Ken McMullen (PSA NM-MT 8) #324 Tigers Rookies (PSA NM 7) #343 Dan Frisella (PSA EX-MT 6) #358 Athletics Rookies (PSA EX 5) #480 Tom Seaver (PSA EX-MT 6) #500 Mickey Mantle (Yellow - PSA NM 7) #533 Nolan Ryan (PSA NM 7) #607 Dick Bosman (PSA NM 7) #623 Hank Allen (PSA NM-MT 8). The Jackson would be a candidate for resubmission as it received its low numerical grade due to a small piece of fiber from the black photo corners being affixed to the reverse. This would likely rub off. A condition breakdown of the entire set would be 6% NM-MT 19% NM 44% EX/MT 22% EX 9% VG/EX and lesser. A very attractive set with some problematic cards due to mishandling consigned from the family of the original owner. 664 cards total.
