Beautiful original-owner collection from the Texas Find. This large 787-card set was carefully and diligently assembled by collector Charlie Young with each card placed into its space in the photo album where it was stored. For the most part the cards have remained in "pack-fresh" condition all that time with a small percentage subjected to very minor corner touches and dings as a result of being inserted into the protective photo corners. Due to the size of the set some of the pages of the photo album did not lie flat in the album resulting in minor bending of some of the cards however flat storage will likely remedy that situation (we have noticed most of these cards have flattened out on their own since being removed from the album). Overall the collection grades approximately 4% MINT 16% NM-MT 15% NM 38% EX-MT 17% EX and a small percentage lesser. The majority of the condition flaws noted above are "out of the pack" flaws like centering and print registration issues common with Topps cards of that period. We selected 29 cards to be graded by PSA which resulted in the following: PSA GEM MINT 10 (2 cards): #124 Yankees Rookies #267 Dave Concepcion; PSA MINT 9 (4 cards): #330 Jim Hunter (HOF) #349 Fitzmorris #359 Pavletich #367 Perranoski; PSA NM-MT+ 8.5 (1 card): #215; PSA NM-MT 8 (9 cards): #58 #79 Cooper/Fisk RC (HOF) #556 Santo In Action (HOF) #599 #600 Kaline (HOF) #611 #664 #741 #773; PSA NM 7 (4 cards): #49 Mays (HOF) #435 R. Jackson (HOF) #555 Santo (HOF) #595 Ryan (HOF); PSA EX-MT+ 6.5 (1 card): #733; PSA EX-MT 6 (6 cards): #167 #441 Munson #508 #560 Rose In Action #640 #777 Wilhlem (HOF); PSA EX 5 (1 card): #420 Carlton (HOF) and inexplicably PSA PR 1 (1 card): #50 Mays In Action (HOF). We do not see the justification for the POOR grade on the Mays but we'll trust PSA that it's there. While the condition of the graded cards is similar to that of the remaining cards we will note that we did pick out better-centered examples to send to PSA. Still an outstanding higher-grade complete 1972 Topps set the largest of its era. 787 cards total.
