I have one to sell!
Once a spectacular advertising piece and now in something less than mint condition the remnants of this wonderful 1892 Cleveland Spiders poster measure approximately 12" x 13" The original piece was a schedule that measured 20" x 13" with the team schedule printed underneath the composite photos that also featured Hall of Fame pitcher Cy Young. The Young portrait was located in the top left corner of the original poster long torn away from this one - sadly young is the only player from the poster who is not pictured. The remaining players pictured are George Rettger John Shearon (actually not with the 1892 team) Jake Virtue George Davies Chief Zimmer Cupid Childs Ed McKean Jimmy McAleer Jesse Burkett (HOF) George Davis (HOF) Jack O'Connor Lee Viau and Jack Doyle all positioned around manager Patsy Tebeau. The piece produced by the National Photo Engraving Co is clearly in POOR condition the bottom section of the piece having been cut away and the composite photo itself subject to extreme damage. We recommend that the piece be submitted to a professional paper conservator to stabilize the paper and perhaps remove some of the dirt along the top of the image which could cause additional long-term damage. Despite the condition this is a wonderful and relatively rare piece a document of one of the 19th Century's more important ballclubs.
