Incredibly rare 1904 New York "Highlanders" Official Scorecard featuring a green and black ornately printed cover with inset Conlon photos of Clark Griffith and Willie Keeler. Interior advertising is also surrounded by familiar portrait photos seen on the large Conlon composite (and also on the T206 cards of many of the players) including Jack Chesbro Kid Elberfeld Wid Conroy and league president Ban Johnson. The paper scoresheet on the interior chronicles a game against Boston apparently a 12-6 Boston victory. The Red Sox defeated the Highlanders at home on the third game of the 1904 season by that score the date being April 16. While box scores are unavailable to confirm it appears that Bil Dineen pitched for Boston while Tom Hughes pitched for the Yankees; John Anderson Willie Keeler and Kid Elberfeld contributing most of the Yankees offense second baseman Jimmy Williams hitting a home run in the ninth inning one of just two home runs he would hit that season. For Boston the hits were frequent led by Jake Stahn who was a hone run short of the cycle. The scorecard itself heavily noted inside with some pencil markings on the cover is in GOOD condition with some noticeable tears at the bottom edge of the cover. The scorecard centerfold has pulled away from its stapled binding and split down the middle yet has remained with its glossy booklet for more than a century. The display value is excellent. New York Highlanders memorabilia is highly desirable among collectors this 1904 scorecard should be no exception. Likely the earliest Highlanders and Hilltop Park scorecard we have encountered.
