The media hype and fanfare leading up to Derek Jeter's 3 000th hit was staggering the pressure on Jeter massive as the Yankee captain entered July coming off an injury and mired in a slump that saw his average dip to .256 and his on base percentage to .320. Less than ten hits away from the magic number he managed a double and a single in 6 attempts on July 5 another double July 6 and a third July 7. Slowly emerging from his slump Jeter used his July 8 off-day to prepare for a day game on Saturday July 9 against the Tampa Bay Rays. In the third inning of that game Jeter deposited a David Price curveball into the stands for hit number 3 000 a solid home run in dramatic Jeter fashion. The Yankee captain was not done however as he finished the game with five hits in five trips to the plate including another double two runs scored a stolen base and two RBI. Suffice to say that July 9 2011 was one of the greatest dates in Yankees history the date of a magical performance by an aging legend and future Hall of Famer. Presented is a full ticket from that game a bleacher seat in EX condition with a slight bit of wear at the left perforation and some very minor corner weakness. As an added bonus the photo on the ticket pictures Jeter's best friend and fellow "core four" member catcher Jorge Posada. An outstanding ticket from one of the most memorable modern Yankee games.
