Odie Cleghorn played professionally from 1910-28, skating for the Montreal Wanderers and Renfrew Creamery Kings of The NHA from 1910-17, and the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and Pittsburgh Pirates from 1918-28. A violent defenseman like his brother, Hall of Famer Sprague Cleghorn, Odie captured a Stanley Cup championship with the 1924 Montreal Canadiens. As coach of the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1925, Odie is credited with pioneering the idea of line changes or "shifts" of players that would rotate throughout the game on the fly. This 1910 Sweet Caporal Hockey Postcard of Cleghorn, #25 in the set and his rookie card, exhibits rounding at the corners with an area of pronounced chipping at lower-left. Otherwise, card presents beautifully with clean and attractive front and back surfaces. Graded GOOD 2 by PSA it remains one of only 11 graded examples across both PSA and SGC's population reports combined.
