Art Ross, one of the greatest defenders of his era, played professionally from 1905-18 and later served in coaching, managing, and league executive roles until 1954. A two-time Stanley Cup champion as a player, both in 1907 with the Kenora Thistles, and 1908 with the Montreal Wanderers, he also secured Stanley Cup championships as coach of the 1928-29 and 1938-39 Boston Bruins. Ross is credited with improving the style of goal used in the NHL, with the league adopting his design for many decades from the late 1920's-mid 1980's. Ross also pioneered a new style of puck utilizing beveled edges and synthetic rubber which the NHL officially adopted from 1942-68. Along with New York Rangers coach Frank Boucher, Ross helped create the concept of the red line which helped improve the pace of the game. Today, the Art Ross trophy is presented annually to the NHL player who leads the league in points at the conclusion of the regular season. A Hockey Hall of Famer, Ross was inducted in 1949. This 1910 Sweet Caporal Hockey Postcard of Ross, #31 in the set and his rookie card, exhibits rounding at the corners. Otherwise, the card presents beautifully with some visible silvering at bottom edge of the photo surface. Graded GOOD 2 by PSA it remains one of only 12 graded examples across both PSA and SGC's population reports combined.

Please note: our printed catalog displays "RC" in the title indicating rookie card status. This is in-fact considered a second year card for Ross, consistent with his C55 issue.
