Signed large format photo of Jewish ballplayer, and long-time minor leaguer, Harry Chozen. Most remembered for hitting safely in 49 consecutive games while with the Southern Association's Mobile Bears in 1945, Chozen played a total of 17 minor league seasons from 1935-52. In 1937, at the age of 21, he was called up to catch the second game of a doubleheader for the Cincinnati Reds with less than two weeks left in their campaign. In what would be his only major league appearance Chozen would go 1-4 with a single in his last at-bat to record his only major league hit. Inscribed in black fountain pen "To George From Harry Chozen," the photo hails from the personal collection of Chozen's former teammate with the 1945 Mobile Bears, George "Shotgun" Shuba of Brooklyn Dodgers fame. 11" x 14" original photo with central image of Harry Chozen exhibits general handling wear to both surfaces with rounded corners, smudges, and some creasing throughout. The signature has been authenticated by JSA and their basic cert is included.
