Collectors who know Martin Dihigo will understand how this 1940s premium stands head and shoulders above many of his other cards in both size and stature. Several of Dihigo's mid-career collectibles share a common underlying image, limiting what they contribute to our impression of his presence on the field. This photo premium, a promotional item for the newspaper La Campana, shows Dihigo several years into his lengthy Mexican League career, likely managing and playing for a team of Cuban stars.

The La Campana premiums prove exceedingly rare, with just two players listed in SGC's population report, Dihigo and Mike Gonzales. They measure 6" by 9" and feature a frankly stunning image of this Latin legend and versatile Hall of Famer. Its SGC GD 2 grade reflects a range of minor issues (touched corners, spots of age, etc.) that do little to detract from its crisp and engaging central portrait. SGC's report shows three total graded, with just one higher! This will make a major impact on any HOF or Latin collection, given its remarkable combination of image and scarcity.
