1933 Type I photograph of George Herman "Babe" Ruth posed as a pitcher at Yankee Stadium. Despite not seeing action on the mound since 1921, the Babe famously tossed a complete game shutout for the Yankees nine years later on the final day of the 1930 season at Fenway Park. This image was very likely captured when the Bambino was again set to take the the mound for the Yankees, this time on the last day of the 1933 campaign. It would be the final pitching performance of Ruth's career, and another complete game victory for the aging superstar. Historic, fresh to the hobby photo measures 6.5" x 8.5" and remains in excellent overall condition with typical very light rounding at the corners. Photo appears to be somewhat underdeveloped overall, though this is most evident in the bottom third at Ruth's feet. Credit Stamping from Wide World has been applied to verso with a few handwritten pencil notations towards the top edge. From LOTG's recent Durham Find of Historic Baseball Photography. Authenticated and encapsulated as a Type I photo by PSA/DNA.
