Tremendous photo depicting the packed outfield bleachers at Yankee Stadium during Game 1, 3, or 5 of the 1923 World Series. As far as we're aware it's one of only a handful of surviving Type I's shot from this perspective during the very first World Series at the House That Ruth Built. It was the third consecutive Fall Classic contested between the New York Giants and New York Yankees but the first "Subway Series" affair as the Yankees had just moved from the Polo Grounds into their own ballpark, Yankee Stadium, to start the season. The presented 8" x 10" photograph exhibits a smooth emulsion surface overall with obvious chipping to areas of the perimeter and at the corners. Three distinct credit stampings from Underwood & Underwood have been applied to verso along with a handwritten "1923" notation. A small 1/2" tear does appear at the top-right, reinforced with clear tape on reverse. Authenticated and encapsulated as a Type I photo by PSA/DNA.
