Nebraska-born pitcher Joba Chamberlain came to the majors with much fanfare, and in his first major league season of 2007, he did not disappoint. He was called up to the major leagues on August 7, and amidst the Yankees being ultra-cautious with his usage (employing a special rest schedule jokingly referred to in the media as the "Joba Rules"), he began his career with a streak of 16 scoreless innings, breaking the Yankees record of 15 1/3 innings to start a major league career, a record set by Slow Joe Doyle 101 years earlier. This game used baseball originates from that record-setting game at Rogers Center in Toronto, with an inscription on the west panel reading "Yankee Record - Most scoreless inn. pitcherd to start M.L. Career - 15 1/3 inn. 9-12-07 Rogers Center. Consigned from a collection of memorabilia personally owned by Chamberlain, the ball exhibits significant scuffing and soiling from use.
