Outstanding Rawlings pro model Pro Stock 1791 Ivan Rodriguez catcher's mitt. The mitt is in tremendous condition with evidence of outstanding use, including substantial use in the pocket, face of the web, and throughout the glove. "Ivan Rodriguez" is embroidered on the back of the thumb in yellow thread. Rodriguez played 33 games with the 2008 New York Yankees, during which time he was teammates with young pitcher Joba Chamberlain, who was just getting his start in baseball. Based on game logs, Chamberlain and Rodriguez teamed up as the Yankee battery just four times in 2008: A 4.2 inning stretch on August 4, and then three times with Chamberlain as a reliever, on September 6 (.2 innings), September 13 (1 inning) and September 19 (1 inning). In their analysis of the glove, PSA/DNA notes that Rodriguez did indeed use this style and model of mitt, though his primary game glove featured a tan back with a black palm and pocket. As such, it is their opinion that this glove was a backup glove for the Hall of Fame catcher. Full LOA from John Taube at PSA/DNA.
