This striking, high-contrast postcard is an ideal way to see how Mordecai Brown's "three finger grip" changed the nature of pitching for someone who had endured his distinctive injury and adjusted his play to accommodate it. 

The Dietsche Postcard series, designated PC765 by The American Card Catalog, printed this Brown postcard as part of its initial 1907 group and added further players and pose variations through 1909. All 59 known cards show Chicago Cubs or Detroit Tigers, implying those cities as the focus for their business.

This SGC AUTHENTIC grade primarily reflects the clipped corner, as other edge and surface wear detracts little from the main image. Combined population reports show just a few dozen similar cards graded, making this a challenge for collectors, whether by team or for its Hall of Famers.
