Gorgeous postcard issued in 1908 featuring the New Britain Perfectos of the Connecticut State League. The team nickname the "Perfectos" reflected the inclusion of four of Cuban players on their roster, all four of which are members of the Cuban Baseball Hall of Fame: Rafael Almeida, Alfredo Cabrera, Armando Marsans and Luis Padrón. All four players are included in this postcard. Of the four, Almeida played in the Negro Leagues with the All Cubans in 1905, and debuted in Major League Baseball with the 1911 Cincinnati Reds, where he remained until 1913. He was one of ten players in the Cuban Baseball Hall of Fame's inaugural class. Cabrera played one major league game, on May 16, 1913, and became the first Spanish-born major leaguer in the process. He was a well-known player in the Cuban League, where he played from 1901 through 1920. Marsans played in the Negro Leagues, the National League, the American League and the Federal League, his major league career lasting from 1911 through 1918. He managed in the Mexican League and the Florida International League, his career lasting into the 1950s. Padron was one of the great Cuban Players, playing outfield, third base and pitcher from 1902 through 1917, and also played in 1915 and 1916 in the Negro Leagues with the Cuban Stars and the Long Branch Cubans.
The technical grade on this card is irrelevant, given its rarity and the players included.
