10 1/4" x 6 1/4" double-sided scorecard produced by the Chicago Herald-American newspaper for a June 26, 1948 doubleheader exhibition that raised money for the newspaper's Benefit Fund, which used the money, in part, to benefit convalescent American servicemen and women. The doubleheader consisted of an Old Timers game, followed by an all-star high school game that matched city and suburban players against one another. The Old Timers game included players like Rogers Hornsby, Dave Bancroft, Freddie Lindstrom, Max Carey, Jim Thorpe, Gabby Hartnett, Ray Schalk and Red Faber. The scorecard has the game scores written in pencil, displaying well with some age-related discoloration along the right edge, and a crease at the center where the piece was folded long ago. Aside from the condition issues, a very interesting piece containing a number of important names.
