Tremendous large format news service photograph captured during Game 1 of the 1953 World Series at Yankee Stadium. Yankees second baseman, Billy Martin, has just tripled off Brooklyn starter, Carl Erskine, with the bases loaded as shadows move across the infield. A packed house looks on as championship banners decorate the iconic Yankee Stadium frieze in the background, setting the scene beautifully as this image was snapped from high along the first base side. Rare large format news service photo measures approximately 11" x 14" with pinholes and a tear visible at the corners. Tape residue remains affixed at the top and left edges of verso, with two New York Times credit stampings applied. Verso also includes a caption applied at the top edge describing the scene, which has been dated to 09/30/53, the day Game 1 of the 1953 World Series took place. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
