Absolutely beautiful example of one of the most popular and highly desirable cards of the tobacco era this identical pose of Tris Speaker is featured in both his T206 and his T213 issue. The T213 however is much more difficult to obtain as the T213s were issued in a much more narrow geographic area than their T206 counterparts. Additionally T213 Type 2 cards like this Speaker were coated with a surface gloss that brought out the deep rich colors of the cards but also made them much more susceptible to condition problems like chipping and wrinkling.Aside from a faint surface wrinkle across Speaker"s cap and face however this card exhibits very little of the wear and chipping associated with T213 cards. Phrases like "dripping with gloss " traditionally utilized by sellers of modern cards on eBay or by auctioneers with a passionate romance with adjectives certainly apply to this card as its deep blues and reds simply jump right off the card. The back is also clean bold and unblemished.This Speaker is the highest-graded example to have been assessed by SGC. Just two examples reviewed by PSA have graded higher.
