Approx 6.5" x 8.5" Type I photo of Tris Speaker with his new club, the 1928 Philadelphia Athletics. In his final season as a player the forty-year-old Speaker appeared in 64 games for Connie Mack's A's, joining both Ty Cobb and Eddie Collins who were both 41 at the time. A team stacked with seven Hall of Famers in Ty Cobb, Mickey Cochrane, Eddie Collins, Jimmie Foxx, Lefty Grove, Al Simmons, and Speaker, the 1928 Athletics finished 98-55; second only to the 101-win New York Yankees. A fantastic depiction of the Grey Eagle that remains virtually free of obvious defects aside from the faintest of wrinkles in the upper-right corner. Credit stamping from Pacific & Atlantic has been applied to verso with large inscription written in pencil that reads "Tris Speaker of the Athletics taken before third game of series between Athletics & Yanks." Authenticated and encapsulated as a Type I photo by PSA/DNA.
