Type I photo of former New York Giants backstop, Roger Bresnahan in 1928. Bresnahan is famously credited as the man responsible for bringing shin guards into vogue for major league catchers, first donning them on Opening Day in 1907. Roger Bresnahan was a mainstay behind the plate for John McGraw's Giants during the first decade of the Deadball Era, helping New York capture a world championship in 1905 after besting Connie Mack's Philadelphia Athletics over five games in the World Series. By the time this image was captured, the forty-nine-year-old future Hall of Famer had come back as a coach, and is pictured helping to prepare the current crop of Giants down at their spring training facility in Hot Springs, AR. An attractive depiction of Bresnahan in mid-swing, photo is a fresh to the hobby example with typical handling wear evident to the perimeter and corners. Large credit stamping from International has been applied to verso which includes full paper caption dated to 2/18/1928. Authenticated and encapsulated as a Type I photo by PSA/DNA.
