Terrific 8" x 10" Type I photo picturing Lou Gehrig and Jimmie Foxx, rival first baseman for two of the greatest teams of the era. Taken in 1929 or 1930 the two sluggers stand outside of the Philadelphia Athletics dugout at Shibe Park as a baby-faced Foxx, acutely aware of the camera, clutches one of his war clubs. While the occasion, with Gehrig visiting in street clothes, is unknown we believe this to be a never-before-seen image. A fresh to the hobby example, photo exhibits a few visible creases to the extreme corners, with the lower-left corner chipped away. Credit stamping from Wide World has been applied to verso with handwritten identifiers of the future Hall of Famers at the top. Authenticated and encapsulated as a Type I photo by PSA/DNA.
